Aziz Julkarnain…UMNO Sabah remains strong under Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, despite facing significant challenges since 2018.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah UMNO remains steadfast in its political principles, advocating for the people, by the people, and rejecting “silent politics” in the pursuit of power.
The political secretary to the Sabah UMNO chief, Ir. Aziz Julkarnain, stated that Sabah is currently facing significant challenges, including high poverty rates, unemployment, and embarrassing corruption scandals involving state government leaders.
However, he noted that some individuals or leaders choose to remain silent due to political interests.
“Sabah UMNO rejects this silent politics for power,” he emphasised in a statement here today.
Ir. Aziz made these remarks in response to Dr. Azmi Hassan from the Nusantara Academy, who suggested that Sabah UMNO risks a significant defeat in the upcoming state elections without collaboration with GRS.
He described this viewpoint as superficial and lacking an understanding of the political landscape in Sabah.
According to Ir. Aziz, there is a pressing need for the chief minister, who is responsible for safeguarding the interests of all Sabahans, to resign in line with global leadership practices.
“Leaders implicated in scandals must step down to allow for transparent investigations to proceed without obstruction, adhering to the principle of ‘no fear, no favour.’
“PH Sabah should also join Sabah UMNO in opposing these scandals. Remaining silent will only associate them with the issues at hand,” he said.
He emphasised the necessity of maintaining a consistent stance against the abuse of power, just as they did with previous BN leaders.
Ir. Aziz affirmed that UMNO Sabah remains strong under Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, despite facing significant challenges since 2018.
“True politics is about the courage to fight for justice, not merely the pursuit of power. Sabah UMNO will continue to be the voice of the people,” he added.
