Terrence Siambun, “The invitation reflects the credibility and competency of Warisan.”
KOTA KINABALU : – A leader from Parti Warisan extended his appreciation to the President of STAR, Jeffrey Kitingan and the Youth Chief Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Christopher Mandut over their invitation for Warisan to join GRS.
The Vice President of Warisan, Terrence Siambun said that while both invitation reflect the credibility and competency of his party, it may not materialize in view of the kickback scandals that surround the coalition’s anchor component party namely PGRS and its President, Hajiji Mohd. Noor.
“How can Warisan join or even form an election pact with GRS when SPRM has yet to clear the several PGRS’s YBs involved in the ‘Kickback Scandal’?
Why should Warisan go and look for trouble by forming an electoral pact with PGRS when we all know that should this pact (Warisan + GRS) win the State election, this in turn will allow those implicated, not only to walk free, but also hold important executive posts?
So until all PGRS’s YBs involved in the scandal are being cleared, then there should be no talk at all about Warisan discussing any electoral pact with GRS,” he said in a statement today.
Siambun also said that he understand the idealism and sentimentality Kitingan has over GRS that will prevent STAR from pulling out from that coalition but quick to warn that PGRS may eventually ruin GRS.
“I believe Jeffrey view GRS as the realism of his ‘United Borneo Front (UBF)’ in whereby all the local-based parties will unite under a local-based coalition to go against the Malaya-based parties and coming from the era of total domination by BN in the 80s and 90s, this may have shaped his political thoughts todate.
In fact, Jeffrey should had been appointed as the Chairman of GRS for he had been fighting for a united front in Sabah for more than a decade now and it makes no sense at all to put Hajiji as the Chairman while at the same time, allow PGRS to take full control of that coalition because they simply don’t know what to do.
Thus Warisan is always ready to discuss with Star and PBS over the creation of a very strong united front in Sabah for purpose of regaining all our rights from Malaya, the same way Sarawak is doing now.
If Star and PBS think all the local parties stay in GRS, then they should suspend or kick PGRS out or alternately, all the local parties can leave PGRS alone in GRS and form Kitingan’s United Borneo Front.
There should be no sadness for PGRS and Hajiji being left all alone in GRS because Zulkarnain Mahdar and his 52 NGOs can join that coalition later,” he concluded.
