“We are deeply disappointed by this video. Regardless of the creator’s intention—be it for
entertainment or other purposes—this action disrespects the legacy of Datuk Peter Mojuntin.
He was not just an icon of this district but a leader who fought tirelessly for his people,” said a family member.
The family also urged the creator of the video to issue a public apology for what they view as an insensitive act.
They have called on the public to stop sharing the video on social media, as it has caused emotional distress to the family and tarnished the respect owed to Datuk Peter Mojuntin.
A local community leader commented that the use of AI technology to create content involving historical icons and leaders should be approached with great care. “Creativity is a wonderful thing, but it must be accompanied by sensitivity, especially when it involves figures who are highly
respected by the community,” he said.
While the video has garnered significant attention, it has also sparked discussions about the need for guidelines and ethical considerations in the use of AI technology, particularly in areas involving culture, history, and respect for community figures.
