Warisan Denies Electoral Pact with Sabah BN

Darell…electoral cooperation had never been raised at the Warisan Supreme Council or Political Bureau meetings.

KOTA KINABALU : – Warisan has denied speculation that it has reached an electoral understanding with Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN), dismissing the claim as baseless and politically motivated.

Its deputy president, Datuk Darell Leiking, said he had received numerous inquiries from journalists, party members, and the public following a viral Facebook post alleging that Warisan and BN Sabah had agreed on a seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming state elections.

However, he refuted the claim, saying no such agreement had been made.

“I would like to confirm that there is no electoral understanding between Warisan and BN Sabah, or with any other political party,” he said in a statement today (Feb 14).

Leiking also clarified that discussions on electoral cooperation had never been raised at the Warisan Supreme Council or Political Bureau meetings, reaffirming that the party had not made any such decision.

He linked the speculation to recent political developments, particularly remarks made by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

During the 39th Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Annual General Assembly on Oct 29, 2024, Hajiji had said that GRS was open to discussions with BN Sabah, Leiking noted.

“With Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah already aligning itself with GRS, it is not surprising that Hajiji is seeking BN Sabah’s cooperation as well. This is merely an effort to ensure that GRS remains in power,” he added.

Leiking reiterated Warisan’s stance, asserting that the party remained independent and had not entered into any agreements that had not been formally discussed within its leadership.

With growing political uncertainty ahead of the elections, Leiking’s statement underscores Warisan’s commitment to standing on its own without external political deals.
