Shafie…Warisan’s strength lies not just in its candidates but in the trust people have in the party itself.
KUDAT : – Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie Apdal said today that the party has long been prepared for the coming state election through years of consistent engagement with people across Sabah.
“We didn’t wait for the Assembly to be dissolved. For almost four years, I have visited all the 73 districts from Sipitang to Kudat, from Kinabatangan to Keningau, Nabawan, Sook and many others.
Preparations must start early and not after an election date is announced,” said Shafie when speaking to reporters at a meet-the-people session in Banggi Island today.
He was commenting on the Election Commission’s announcement earlier this afternoon that polling day has been set for November 29.
He explained that Warisan’s activities over the past years were not political campaigning but part of its continuous effort to meet people, understand their problems and build stronger community networks.
“Our focus has always been on readiness and not panic or reaction. When the time comes, our candidates will be ready.”
“I’m not announcing names yet because after more than 30 years in politics, I know how some try to buy candidates, proposers and seconders before nomination day.”
“That’s why our focus is on strengthening readiness now so that we remain strong later, ” Shafie said.
Shafie said Warisan’s strength lies not just in its candidates but in the trust people have in the party itself.
“What matters most is the party. If people believe the party can bring a better future for Sabah, that’s what they will choose. It’s not Kuala Lumpur that decides who becomes Chief Minister.”
“It’s the voters of Sabah who must all come out in full force to decide our own future and protect Sabah’s dignity, ” he added.
He also pointed out the divisions within the ruling coalition.
“Look at GRS today some contest as independents, some under different logos, some not sure which to use. If they don’t trust their own logo, how can the people trust them?
Warisan is a local party with experience both in Peninsular and in Sabah and we know how to govern and defend Sabah’s rights.”
Shafie reminded that the people’s will must never be distorted through political manoeuvres or legal manipulation.
1“We must be careful when we talk about majority and mandate. The law cannot be twisted to deny the people’s will. If Warisan wins the majority, that is the people’s voice and no one can deny it.”
