KOTA KINABALU : – A fight between colleagues resulted in one being slashed to death in the Tawau district.

The incident came to light when an estate worker reported a fight involving machetes at a farmhouse in Merotai Besar.

Tawau OCPD ACP Jasmin Hussin said they received the report at around 2.44pm on Sunday (Jan 5) about a large fight involving machetes.

“A team was sent to the location, and upon arrival, our men saw a lifeless person with slash wounds on his head,” he said in a statement today.

A suspect was apprehended shortly after, and seized a machete that is believed to have been used in the attack.

“The suspect is an undocumented 33-year-old man working as a labourer on the farm,” said ACP Jasmin.

The victim’s body, with slash wounds on both sides of his head, was taken to the hospital for a postmortem examination.

It is believed a misunderstanding between the victim and the suspect led to the deadly fight.

The case is being investigated for murder and immigration offences, added ACP Jasmin.
