SANDAKAN: – The vice president of KiTA (Kinabatangan – Corridor of Life Tourism Operator Association) Johnny Lim recently led a delegation from Sandakan to meet the Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing in Kuala Lumpur recently.
The meeting, was initiated and organized through the efforts of the Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong.
Among the key topics discussed were the urgent need to increase the petrol quota allocated to tourism operators in Kinabatangan, reinstating of tourism tax exemptions and the upgrading of Infrastructure including the upgrading and maintenance of Sandakan’s airport facilities.
Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, well-versed in the challenges facing Sandakan’s tourism sector, urged local councils to intensify efforts aimed at revitalizing Sandakan Town.
His directive underscored the government’s commitment to bolstering the region’s tourism potential, ensuring sustainable growth and improved visitor experiences.
The meeting concluded with a sense of optimism, as stakeholders expressed confidence in the minister’s proactive approach and pledged continued collaboration towards realizing Sandakan’s tourism aspirations.
